Crawley summer music events hailed a success
Music events held in Crawley’s High Street throughout the summer have been hailed a success by the leader of the borough council.
The Summer Sounds events were held on Thursday evenings and kicked off with a set from The Cureheads, a tribute group playing the music of Crawley boys The Cure, who launched 50 years ago.
Speaking at a meeting of the full council on Wednesday (October 21), leader Michael Jones said: “The programme brought hundreds of people into the town centre, supporting our local businesses, cafés, bars and restaurants, while giving residents the opportunity to enjoy high-quality entertainment on their doorstep.
“It was particularly pleasing to see local talent sharing the stage with nationally recognised acts. Performers including Crawley’s own Slow Time Mondays helped attract audiences alongside popular tribute band The Cureheads, creating events that appealed to a wide range of people.”

Mr Jones said the events were about much more than music – they were about getting people into the town centre to support the evening and night-time economy, bringing communities together and demonstrating “our commitment to a thriving and attractive town centre”.
Mr Jones reported that Brandon Wright, Twenty Music Roots agent – who represents singer-songwriter Miller Campbell – said: “Events like this are absolutely vital for the growth of the local music and creative industries.
“My clients had a fantastic experience and it was wonderful to see such a strong commitment to supporting artists and bringing the community together.”
