Public Notice Portal round-up: New communication hubs with defibrillators in Worthing, road closures and speed limit change due to new roundabout

Plans for new communication hubs with defibrillators in Worthing, road closures and a speed limit change due to a new roundabout are among recent applications and notifications on the Public Notice Portal.

• Communication hubs with defibrillators are planned for Worthing town centre, to replace old-style telephone boxes.

JCDecaux has made planning applications and seeks advertisement consent for two units in Montague Street and one on the pavement outside Waitrose, in High Street.

The hub units offer free calls to landlines, free Wi-Fi, a 32in screen with direct internet access, charging points and a publicly-accessible defibrillator.

In a covering letter, JCDecaux explains it purchased In Focus Public Networks in 2018 and has been working in partnership with IPN to replace its network of old-style enclosed call boxes across the country.

“What is unique about our hub unit is the inclusion of a publicly-accessible defibrillator as a standard feature in the unit design,” the company adds.

Since 2019, JCDecaux has worked in partnership with the charity Community Heartbeat Trust, which ensures training is provided to ensure the equipment can be quickly deployed in an emergency.
