Public Notice Portal round-up: Plans for a new comedy venue in Worthing, extra hours at a Worthing pub and decarbonisation scheme at Littlehampton school
Plans for a new comedy venue in Worthing, extra hours at a Worthing pub and a decarbonisation scheme at a Littlehampton school are among recent applications and notifications on the Public Notice Portal.
• A new comedy venue is set to open in Worthing, bringing The Comedy Rooms shows to the heart of the town centre.
The 3 Word Group has applied to Worthing Borough Council for a new premises licence for The Comedy Rooms at Global House, Portland Square.
The council granted planning permission in November to change the use of first-floor offices at Global House to Sui Generis, specifically for use as a live comedy / entertainment venue.

The site was previously occupied by law firm WMC Legal LLP but the solicitors vacated the premises on September 21.
The company already runs The Comedy Rooms shows at various venues, including the Guildbourne Centre in Worthing and Wick Football Club.
The premises licence application is seeking authorisation for the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises.
Alcohol sales would be 5pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday, 11am to 11pm Sunday. The venue opening times would be 5pm to 11.30pm Monday to Saturday, 11am to 11.30pm Sunday.

The applicant has offered a set of conditions to address the licensing objectives.
The consultation closes on Friday, January 16, and a committee hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11 at 6.30pm, if required.
• A Worthing pub is looking to extend its opening times, with an extra hour of drinking and a later time for live music.
Greene King Brewing & Retailing Limited has applied to Worthing Borough Council for permission to vary the premises licence at The Castle, in The Strand.

Current opening times are 8am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 12.30am the following morning Friday and Saturday, with alcohol sales from 10am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday, 10am to midnight Friday and Saturday.
The application is seeking to vary the existing licence to allow for opening 8am to 12.30am the following morning Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 1.30am the following morning Friday and Saturday, with alcohol sales from 10am to midnight Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 1am the following morning Friday and Saturday.
Permission is also sought to extend the non-standard hours for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, spring and August bank holidays, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, the proceeding and preceding day at a Bank holiday, St George's and St Patrick's Day and any other publicly declared bank holiday. The permission for New Year's Eve is to remain unchanged.
Regulated entertainment is currently 6pm to 11pm Monday to Sunday and the application is seeking to vary the existing licence to allow for it to continue until midnight Monday to Sunday.
Conditions would be added in relation to dispersal of customers, noise checks and the associated records.
The proposal is for a dispersal policy to ensure customers leaving the premises at the end of each night do so quickly and quietly.
When regulated entertainment is provided, noise checks will be carried out at the nearest noise sensitive property. A noise check log will be kept, including the sound level.
Representations must reach the licensing unit no later than January 14. A committee hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, at 6.30pm, if required.
• A decarbonisation scheme at a Littlehampton school could see the gas-fired boiler plant replaced with a new air source heat pump system.
E3 Cube has made a planning application to Arun District Council on behalf of REAch2 Academy Trust for White Meadows Primary School, in Whitelea Road.
The proposal is to fully remove a portion of the existing boiler plant and replace it with a new system, as part of a decarbonisation scheme to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of the site.
The new air source heat pump unit would be installed to the rear of the building, minimising visual and spatial impact on the surrounding area.
The application states the proposal will significantly reduce the site’s carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, supporting the transition to low-carbon heating in line with national and local sustainability objectives.
In the Noise Impact Assessment prepared by Philip Dunbavin Acoustics, it states the proposed units are predicted to have a low impact overall.
If required, an appropriate acoustic enclosure would be installed to ensure compliance with local noise criteria and to mitigate any potential disturbance to neighbouring properties.
Comments should be made by January 23.
