Plans to remove a section of the coast road in Shoreham and close a Steyning footpath for six months are among recent applications and notifications on the Public Notice Portal.
The Department for Transport has given notice of a Stopping up of Highways order on coast road in Shoreham.
This authorises the variation of The Stopping up of Highways (South East) (No.5) Order 2024 by removing one of the irregular-shaped southern part widths of the A259 Brighton Road.
This is to enable development at Kingston Wharf as permitted by Adur District Council, under references AWDM/0204/20 and AWDM/0511/21.

Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or [email protected] by quoting NATTRAN/SE/S247/6111.
They may also be inspected during normal opening hours at Adur District Council, The Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, Shoreham BN43 5WU.
Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the order may apply to the High Court within six weeks from January 8, 2026.

The council said the order is necessary due to construction works. "Unfortunately there is no alternative route available using the Public Rights of Way network."

Any queries about the effect of the order on footpath users should be directed to the Rights of Way team on 01243 777620.

• West Sussex County Council intends to make an order for the temporary night-time closure of Poling Street in Arundel.
The road will be closed throughout its entire length, overnight only, from 6pm to 6am.
The council said the road closure is needed to maintain safety while new telecommunications cables are installed. The order will come into effect on January 19 and remain in force until January 26.
Once made, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
