The Midhurst and District branch of the Royal British Legion has begun its annual Poppy Appeal.

Volunteers will be selling poppies and raising money for veterans and their families at Sainsbury’s, Boots and Tesco this weekend.
Remembrance Sunday falls on the 8th November this year, with special services held at local churches.
Midhurst War Memorial will host a special service at 10.45 on Sunday morning, before proceedings move to the Parish church. There will also be a separate service at Woolbeding at 3 pm.
Veterans and uniformed organisations will also gather at 11 am at the War Memorial in Midhurst on the 11th of November.
St. Mary’s Easebourne will mark Remembrance Sunday at 10.30, welcoming parishioners from Lodsworth and Selham as well. The service will honour the 77 men from Easebourne who gave their lives during the two world wars. Thousands of knitted poppies, created by parishioners, will be on display at the church throughout November.
Fernhurst will hold a Holy Communion Service in church at 9.30, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the memorial and a procession to church with the village’s uniformed organisations at 10.45-11.
The village will also mark Armistice Day from 10:50 at the war memorial.
South Harting church will mark Remembrance Sunday with Elsted, Treyford and Didling at an Ecumenical service, during which the names of the fallen will be read.
There will also be a two-minute silence on Armistice Day at 11am at the village war memorial.
