Southern Water has deployed water tankers to Midhurst and Easebourne as it continues to tackle low water pressure affecting parts of the area.

More than 10 leaks have been reported to the company in recent days. However, a Southern Water spokesperson said the tankers were being used to support supplies while crews dealt with a leak in Bepton Road, which is "in a particularly challenging location".

The company said the issue was also affecting water pressure at the nearby hotel.

The spokesperson said: "Our teams are exploring a number of engineering options to identify the most effective long-term solution and continue to assess the best way to carry out the work.

"Temporary measures remain in place to support local water supplies in the meantime.

"We'd like to thank customers and the local community for their patience and understanding as we work to resolve the issue."

Southern Water staff operating a bowser on Dodsley Lane in Easebourne said tankers were travelling from Brighton in convoy to replenish supplies until the system was fully operational again.

The latest problems come amid wider concerns about the resilience of local water supplies. Last week, the Midhurst and Petworth Observer reported that residents in Lodsworth were once again provided with bottled water after a power cut disrupted supplies from Vinings Reservoir.
