Horsham FC told to 'put on a performance' against Chesham

Dominic Di Paola wants Horsham to ‘put on a performance’ when they host Chesham United tomorrow in the National League South.

The Hornets, fifth in the table, are unbeaten in six at home in all competitions going into their game with the 15th-placed Generals.

But Di Paola admitted Horsham hadn’t put in many complete performances at home this season, and urged his players to put on a show in the Hornets’ final game before Christmas.

He said: “I want to see us put on a performance at home. It doesn’t feel like we’ve played a lot at home. It’s weird.

“I don’t think we’ve put on many 90 minute performances at home. We’ve done that a lot away from home, so I’d like to see us turn up on Saturday, win, lose, or draw, and put on a bit of a performance.

“I feel like we’ve done it in fits and starts in our home campaign this year. Hopefully we can get a big crowd and create a bit of noise and an atmosphere.

“I don’t think we were vintage against Weston. There’s been a few. Hampton we weren’t great, Slough, Enfield, Dover.

“We’ve not played brilliantly for five games at home and historically we’re good to watch at home, so hopefully we can put on a bit of a performance.”

Horsham have already met Chesham in the league this season. The Hornets picked up their first point of the 2025-26 National League South campaign with a goalless draw at The Meadow back in August.

The Buckinghamshire outfit have struggled for form in recent weeks, losing five of their last six games, but the Generals have recorded impressive victories over high-flying Dorking Wanderers and Torquay United this season.

Di Paola said: “I think they’re a good team. They play a certain way which is quite hard to play against.

“They’ve got really good strengths. Their striker is very good, Nathan Minhas. He’s been around for a bit and he’s a good player, and they’ve got a couple of really good central midfielders.

“As I said, they’re quite a hard team to play against. They use quite a unique shape so we’re going to have to be on it.

“It’s another tough game. They beat Dorking a couple of weeks ago so they’re no mugs. It’s going to be another game where we’ve got to be good.”

Di Paola confirmed Lee Harding and Charlie Hester-Cook will miss out due to injury, but the Hornets have no other fitness concerns.
