Global cosmetics retailer hosts free inclusive day party in Brighton
Lush Hairlab, located on Trafalgar Street in Brighton, hosted a free day party featuring a range of activities and experiences for all ages.
Lush, a global cosmetics retailer, has four stores across Sussex and in December 2023 they opened their first-ever HairLab at 79 Trafalgar Street in Brighton, offering a holistic, eco-conscious salon experience.
The salon champions inclusivity by featuring texture-specialist stylists for diverse hair types alongside neurodiversity-friendly accommodations like quiet hours and low-sensory options.
For greater local inclusion, Lush HairLab Brighton threw a free daytime party which included complimentary party hair styling and makeup looks for all ages.
Soundtracked by DJ Xan, the event named ‘Beats ‘n’ Barnets’ happend on Saturday October 25 and was all about getting-ready-together with music on, chatting, trying new styles, hyping each other up, and that buzz of something exciting ahead.
The party was packed with free access to hairdressers and makeup artists trained to help people feel like their best selves, with uplifting and confidence-boosting advice and demonstrations, backed by the expertise of Lush’s team, all under one roof.
The event included free scalp, hand and arm massages, live Lush product making and a reflective area in which to write a love letter to your hair are all designed to help Brightonians leave the party feeling like a million bucks.
Daisy Evans, hair lead at Lush, said: “At a time when so much of our social lives happen through a screen, we are celebrating the joy of getting ready together in real life. Beats 'n' Barnets is all about that getting-ready-together energy we love so much – music on, people chatting, swapping ideas, trying something new and hyping each other up.

In the Trafalgar St store, HairLab stylists collaborate with clients during a free, in-depth consultation to determine which services will work best for them to achieve their desired outcome.
This includes, but is not limited to, cuts, styling with or without a choice or hard or soft water, herbal hair colouring, protective styles, wig maintenance, twists, silk presses, soothing head spa treatments, henna hair parties for groups and knowledge-sharing events.
Haircuts include a full botanical wash room experience that start from £85 and natural hair colouring using Lush’s herbal dyes start from £80.
The store is open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10am – 7pm and Sundays 10am – 5pm, at 79 Trafalgar Street, Brighton BN1 4EB.
