Acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy will perform at Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea on Sunday 8 November as part of her extensive UK tour, It's Good to Be Here.

Best known for writing Only a Woman's Heart, the song that gave its name to one of the most successful albums in Irish music history, McEvoy has spent more than three decades establishing herself as one of Ireland's most respected songwriters and live performers.
Her return to Britain this November will see her perform across England, Scotland and Wales, with the Shoreham concert offering Sussex audiences an opportunity to experience her music in the intimate surroundings of Ropetackle Arts Centre.

Released in 1992, A Woman's Heart became a landmark in Irish music, bringing together some of the country's most celebrated female performers, including Mary Black, Dolores Keane, Sharon Shannon and Maura O'Connell. McEvoy's title song became an enduring favourite, helping introduce a generation of listeners to the remarkable women shaping Irish music.
But McEvoy's career stretches far beyond that early success. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, producer and independent recording artist, she has built an extensive catalogue of songs exploring relationships, resilience, identity and the complexities of everyday life.
Her songwriting has also travelled well beyond her own recordings, with artists including Emmylou Harris, Mary Black, Emma Langford and Saint Sister interpreting her work.
Audiences at Ropetackle can expect an evening of music and storytelling, drawing on songs from across her career, including favourites such as Sophie, South Anne Street, Harbour and A Woman's Heart, alongside material from her more recent recordings.
Her latest single, I'm On A Mission, adds another chapter to a catalogue that has continued to develop throughout her career.
Speaking about her return to Britain, McEvoy said: "I can't wait to get back to the UK, I've been loving the concerts over there these last few years. There's a palpable warmth and humour in the venues each night; it feels like we're all in it together. With everything the world's going through right now, it really does feel good to be here… and even better to be there!"
The It's Good to Be Here tour begins in Havant on 4 November, followed by two London performances, a concert in New Milton on 7 November and the Shoreham date on 8 November. Further performances include Birmingham, Somerset, Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Liverpool.
Eleanor McEvoy performs at Ropetackle Arts Centre, Little High Street, Shoreham-by-Sea, on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20.
