Brighton Sea Cadets (TS Brighton) need a new home

Brighton Sea Cadets (TS Brighton) need a new home, and we are calling on our local community, businesses, and council for support.
For nearly a century, our unit has been a pillar of the Brighton community. From our current base on Brewer Street, we provide 38 local young people with life-changing opportunities.
Through sea training, leadership exercises, BTEC qualifications, and essential life skills, we watch quiet, unsure children transform into confident, capable leaders.
However, our historic building—built in the 1870s and gifted to us in 1938—is no longer fit for purpose. It heavily constrains our ability to grow, and refurbishing it would cost hundreds of thousands of pounds—an expense we simply cannot afford as an independent charity.
Our Vision: A Community Hub & Youth Centre of Excellence
We aren’t just looking for a roof over our heads; we are looking to build a collaborative space. Our goal is to move into a closed local school facility (such as St Bartholomew's, St Joseph's, or Middle Street) and transform it into a Centre of Excellence.
This space would serve as a shared community hub, providing a home not just for TS Brighton, but also for:
- Local Army and Air Cadet units facing similar facility issues
- Armed Forces charities needing regional bases
- Local grassroots organizations like Whoopsie Daisy
How You Can Help
As the Fundraising Officer for TS Brighton, I am asking our LinkedIn network to help us make this vision a reality. We are looking to connect with:
Brighton & Hove City Council members who can help us explore vacant local authority properties.
Local businesses and corporate partners interested in supporting our capital fundraising campaign through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Property and construction experts who can offer guidance on community asset transfers and premises evaluation.
Please watch and share the full interview below with our Commanding Officer, Lt Cdr Angela Reeves, and Unit Vice Chair, Capt Jason Poole OBE, as they discuss our campaign with Latest TV.
