Hastings Borough Council is delighted to announce that we are being considered to receive £1.3million by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to develop a covered tennis and padel centre at White Rock.

Alongside the LTA funding, the council would provide £500,000 to develop an innovative scheme which will create three covered tennis and three covered padel courts at White Rock Gardens.
Cllr Glenn Haffenden, leader of the council and lead councillor for sport and leisure, said: “It is fantastic news that we are being considered for this funding, and I’d like to thank the LTA for their support of this project. The success of the pop-up padel courts at White Rock Gardens over the summer has shown that there is a demand for padel in Hastings, and this funding would allow us to bring covered courts that can be used all year round to help keep Hastings’ residents active. The popularity of padel is growing across the country and we are keen to provide excellent facilities for our residents.”
The £1.3million would be made up of £1million from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, via Sport England, and £300,000 which be delivered through the LTA’s Tennis Foundation.
