With leaders Kings Head on a bye week, the chasing teams had a chance to close the gap at the top. The Shelley Arms hosted defending champions Tony's Old Boyz, who leapfrogged their hosts in the table with a convincing 7-2 win. Josh Mauger hit a 180, and Andy Gurr recorded the highest finish of the season so far with a 139. Southwater Club travelled to The Cricketers and moved into second place with a 6-3 victory. Ashington Club were at home to The Onslow Arms, with Ryan Geal hitting a 120 outshot for the hosts, but it wasn’t enough as the visitors secured a 6-3 win, helped by Ryan Mitchell’s second 180 of the season. The two Partridge teams faced off, with the A team proving too strong in a 6-3 win over the B team.

Next week is the Queen Elizabeth 2 Cup at Southwater Club. Please register by 8:20 pm. A quick reminder of the format: two players pair up against another pair, and a coin toss decides who nominates one of their players first (loser of the toss nominates first). The second pair then puts forward a player. The remaining two players face off, and if it’s tied at one game each, a pairs match is played. Each game is one leg of 401 double-in. First and preliminary round losers can enter the plate competition.
Teams that haven’t returned their registration forms must do so by next Thursday. Players can still be registered as long as notification is given to me by 8:30 pm on match night, up until the halfway point of the season.
