Just A Minute: Remembering

November brings Remembrance Sunday (8th) and Remembrance Day (11th). In this season, there will surely be much remembering of the horrors of the past. The days are especially designed to help us remember those who gave their lives in the two great World Wars of the twentieth century. And we will certainly be doing that.
But in all the remembering, let us not forget why we remember. It’s not just so that we don’t forget. It helps us focus on the cost of this fearful way of life, and move forward.
Above all, our remembering must look to the future. We do not need to repeat the failings of the past. There is no military solution to the problems of the present. The future can be different if we want it to be.
