Families, friends and local residents are invited to discover life at Norden House on Friday 6 November, with a Vintage Tea Dance, a special history talk and activities celebrating memories, creativity and community.

Norden House is opening its doors to the local community for a special open day on Friday 6 November, inviting families, friends, carers and local residents to come along, meet the team and discover everything the care home has to offer.

Themed around Vintage Tea Dance & Memory Lane, the day will bring people together through music, history, creativity and opportunities to connect with the Norden House team and residents.

Visitors will be able to enjoy welcome greetings and tours from 9am, meet the team at 10am and take part in a range of activities throughout the day. These include a Memory Lane and memory boxes activity, a chef tasting, a resident art exhibition and awards, and a community marketplace running throughout the event.

A special highlight will be a history talk by historian, author and PhD Dr Janet Pennington, exploring the fascinating history of hats. From how hats are made and the purposes they have served at different events, to the shops that once sold them through the ages, the talk promises an interesting look at an everyday item with a rich history.

The afternoon will bring a musical atmosphere to Norden House, with singer Kerry Le Bern performing from 2pm, followed by a prize draw and the close of the event at 3pm.

The open day is an opportunity for people to get to know Norden House, meet the people who make it special and find out more about the care, activities and community connections on offer.

Whether visiting to explore the home, enjoy the entertainment, discover local history or simply spend time with others, everyone is welcome to come along and join in.
