Seahaven Responders has partnered with Cradle Hill Community Primary School to install a new Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) on the school grounds. The life-saving equipment is now registered with South East Coast Ambulance Service and available 24/7 to support both the school and surrounding local Seaford residents in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

The school is shortly having a non-school uniform day to fundraise for the charity to help with the costs of the new PAD site and ongoing maintenance costs.
"We are extremely pleased to launch this new PAD site alongside the school," said Jack Stonehouse, Team Leader for Seahaven Responders. "Every second counts when someone stops breathing, and enabling the community to have early access to a defibrillator can truly save a life during a cardiac arrest."

"We are incredibly grateful to Seahaven Responders for their invaluable support and guidance in bringing this vital equipment to our school and the local community," said Andrea Keith, Headteacher at Cradle Hill Community Primary School. "As a school, we are proud to sit at the heart of Seaford. Knowing that our grounds can now offer a lifeline to local residents in the event of a cardiac arrest is deeply reassuring, and we are delighted to be able to support and protect our wider community. We would also like to thank CDS electrical for installing the cabinet for us free of charge"
The new defibrillator is housed in a highly visible cabinet on the main gate of the school on Lexden Road, ensuring 24/7 public access. In the event of a suspected cardiac arrest, 999 should be called immediately. The ambulance call taker will direct the caller to the exact location of the cabinet and provide the secure access code to unlock it. The defibrillator itself is automated and provides clear, step-by-step spoken instructions once switched on, meaning any member of the public can use it to save a life, even with no prior medical training.
