The BBC highlight a charity on their monthly Lifeline appeal. The charity PMRGCAuk has been selected for November. The inflammatory conditions Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) are very serious and debilitating but unheard of by most people.

PMR causes pain in the shoulders and hips along with difficulty getting out of bed and walking. GCA can cause severe headaches and fatigue. It can also lead to irreversible sight loss and aortic aneurysms if left untreated. People have lost their sight. Early detection and treatment is therefore essential.
PMRGCAuk offers important information and support for people affected. They also organise a network of support groups across the country, promote research and provide educational resource's. There are local support groups in Chichester, Worthing, Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings.
The Worthing groups photo is included in the BBC lifeline appeal and new members are always very welcome. You can view the short lifeline appeal film at bbc.co.uk/lifeline. To contact the Worthing support group please email: [email protected]
