'He has to play' - Brighton predicted XI at Manchester City as Fabian Hurzeler makes nine changes
Carabao Cup fourth round: Manchester City vs Brighton and Hove Albion from the Etihad - Wednesday, 7.45pm
Head coach Fabian Hurzeler is expected to make numerous changes for their Carabao Cup clash at Manchester City.
The Seagulls - who remain third in the Premier League despite a 2-0 loss at Liverpool last Sunday - have plenty of injuries amid their busy schedule.
Brighton travel to the Eithad for the fourth round cup clash and will then stay in Manchester as they face City once again on Saturday in the Premier League.
Hurzeler's men then travel to Madrid on Thursday as they take on Getafe in the Conference League.
The game against Getafe will conclude a run of five consecutive away matches in a row.
Bill Edgar, a football writer at The Times, posted: "Brighton are the first English top-flight team to play five consecutive away games, where all are at least 250 miles from home."
The tricky run also coincides with a lengthy injury list that Hurzeler will have to manage carefully for the Manchester double header.
Brighton's likely XI
Jason Steele - GK: Albion's "cup keeper" excelled in the previous leg as Brighton came back from 2-0 to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford. Steele should start ahead of regular stopper Bart Verbruggen.
Costinha - RB: Ferdi Kadioglu injured his hip at Liverpool and Mats Wieffer is easing his way back from knee injury, which all points to Costinha. Wieffer could though return to bench and get some late minutes.
Michael Svoboda - CB: Pascal Stuijk is injured and Luka Vuskovic and Lewis Dunk will likely be rested ahead of the PL clash. The Austrian summer arrival looks a very reliable alternative.
Olivier Boscagli - CB: The Frenchman could revert to his more familiar centre back role for this one. Had a tough first half at Liverpool but overall he's been tops this term.
Jaouen Hadjam - LB: The summer arrival impressed in the previous round at Man United as he teed-up Kostoulas' opener. A very dynamic addition to the squad.
Malick Yalcouye - CM: The Ivory Coast international could be in from the start as Yasin Ayari may need a rest and Chema Andres picked up a hip injury at Liverpool.
Pascal Gross - CM: Does he need a rest? Of course not, it's Pascal Gross for crying out loud, he has to play! He probably does need a rest in all seriousness but injuries could force the decision.
Matt O'Riley - RW: The Denmark international should be on the right as Diego Gomez puts his feet up ahead of Saturday. There could be possible late minutes for Yankuba Minteh, who is close to a return from his leg injury.
Jack Hinshelwood - No 10: The academy graduate will be keen to make an impact as he gets back to his best after a recent ankle injury. He needs minutes under his belt
Ibrahim Osman - LW: The winger has given glimpses of his potential in an Albion shirt this term and another chance to impress on the left flank. Maxime De Cuyper will likely be rested and Kaoru Mitoma remains sidelined with his troublesome hamstring.
Georginio - CF: The Frenchman recently said he's difficult to work with - but Hurzeler said he loves him anyway. The mercurial striker/No 10 is likely to start as Kostoulas gets a breather. Evan Ferguson (ankle) remains a distant memory and Stefanos Tzimas is still out with his ACL problem.
