West Sussex village larder closes following power cut
A larder in a West Sussex village larder was forced to close following a power cut due to the effects of Storm Austen and Storm Boelo.
Lodsworth Larder was forced to close on Saturday, October 24, because of the outage, before opening for just 90 minutes the following morning.
In a social media update on Sunday, October 25, the business said it had ‘large quantities of milk, cream, bread and pastries that had to be disposed’ of due to restrictions, and invited residents to come along and help themselves.
The gesture came as the village continued to deal with the effects of the power cut, which also affected local brewery Langham Brewery.

Lodsworth Water Supply Works experienced a power outage on Friday evening, October 23, affecting reservoir levels and creating a potential risk of water supply interruptions for more than 2,000 homes.
Southern Water used a generator to restore power to the treatment works and carry out a controlled restart of operations. Reservoir levels subsequently began to recover overnight into Saturday, with the company continuing to monitor supplies.
The incident occurred during Storm Boelo, which brought strong winds and power disruption to parts of Sussex and the wider South East.
