A 'welcome return' to national fishing competition in Eastbourne after 10 years
Over 125 of the country’s top sea anglers set to compete along Eastbourne and Pevensey Bay beaches in upcoming fishing competition.
Eastbourne’s fishing community is preparing to welcome back one of the biggest events in British sea angling, as the Angling Trust Teams of Five Shore Championships return to the town for the first time in a decade.

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 28 and 29 2026 at the Eastbourne’s Fisherman’s Club, where the new national champions will be crowned. The national competition will see more than 25 teams of five anglers travel from all corners of the country to battle it out for the title of National Champions.
The event, widely regarded as the biggest team shore angling competition in the country, will bring together some of Britain’s finest competitive sea anglers, all hoping to claim the coveted national crown.

Fishing will take place along stretches of Pevensey Bay, Langney Point and Splash Point, with competitors fishing from 10am until 3pm on both days. Eastbourne and Pevensey Bay have a long history of competitive sea fishing, and their beaches will once again provide the setting for this national event.
A spokesperson for the competition said: “Members of the public are warmly invited to come along and watch some of the country’s best shore anglers in action. “Whether you’re an experienced angler, someone interested in taking up fishing or simply curious about the sport, this is a fantastic opportunity to see competitive sea angling at the highest national level. “Eastbourne’s angling community is looking forward to welcoming competitors from across the nation and putting the town firmly back on the national sea angling map. After 10 years away, the championships are finally coming home to Eastbourne.” The championships are being organised with the support of the Angling Trust, Rob Tuck and local club Eastbourne Nomads Angling Club, whose members have been working to help bring the event back to the town.
Local tackle shops Tony’s Tackle, Eastbourne Pier and Anglers Den are also getting behind the championships, helping supply the bait required by competitors throughout the weekend.
