Not shopping, but sharing in Hastings on March 14
Umbrella Sussex host their first Free Shop of 2026 and look forward to a record number of visitors.
As we head into March, local charity Umbrella Sussex urge you to do a Spring Clean and bring your spare stuff the Stade Hall on Saturday 14th March (11-3pm)
Umbrella spokesperson Shelley explains: "We all have stuff we don't need anymore, so we create these events where people can bring their extras, take things they can use, and spend time in the Free Cafe, meeting other people in the community and sharing things, stories and joy.
At our last Free Shop someone found a rug, a lamp, cushions and a hand painted landscape of the West Hill to make their first ever flat cosy, and we saved over 200 kilos of things that might otherwise have ended up in landfill"
Free Shops are open to everyone, and Umbrella Sussex stress that the events are about trust and community: people are free to take what they want, the only limit is on what you can bring- no more than 1 bag per person.
