Fire service called to Goring house blaze; road closure in place

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) said it was called to reports of a fire involving a property in Withdean Avenue at 1.29pm.

A WSFRS spokesperson said: “Joint Fire Control mobilised five fire engines to the scene. Upon arrival firefighters were faced with a fire involving the garage which was spreading to the first floor of the property.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two jets and three high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“Residents living nearby are urged to keep their doors and windows closed for the time being due to the amount of smoke in the area.

“Withdean Avenue is closed to traffic to allow firefighters to work safely.”
