Big Church Festival: Police appeal for witnesses after man dies at West Sussex event
Police say they are continuing to appeal for information after a man was tragically killed at a Christian festival in West Sussex on Friday (August 28).
The 41-year-old, from Eastbourne, died after a large sign fell at the site, in Washington Road, Steyning.
Police said South East Coast Ambulance Service has confirmed a further five people were assessed and treated at the scene.
A police spokesperson said four of those patients were taken to local hospitals for further treatment, including two patients with more serious injuries and two patients with less serious injuries.

The spokesperson said: “Police were called about 3.38pm on Friday, August 28 and remain at the scene today (Saturday, August 29), where they will continue with enquiries to support the coronial process.
“Officers will also gather any evidence to assist Horsham District Council in this joint investigation.”
Detective Chief Superintendent Richard McDonagh said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died, and all others who have been affected by this tragic incident.
“We know there were thousands of people on site yesterday afternoon, and we would urge anyone with any information or any relevant video footage to please come forward. You can report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Igloo.
“The festival organisers have chosen to close the event in light of this devastating incident, and I would like to thank them and all other partners as we work together to establish the full circumstances.”
The Health and Safety Executive and local authority have been informed.
