Eastbourne community news round up for April - in pictures

From a martial arts group’s 20th anniversary and fishing and sailing success to a sponsored read and fundraisers for Ukraine - here is a picture round up of the community news which was printed in the Eastbourne Herald in the month of April.

The congregation at Our Lady of Ransom Church in Eastbourne organised a bacon buttie and coffee morning after Mass on Sunday March 27 in support of Ukraine. There was also a cake sale and a raffle, and the sum of £802 was raised. SUS-220429-133051001

Fundraiser Chris Mahon teamed up with Ben Saber, owner of Jesters sports bar, to raise £1,100 for mental health charity Mind Eastbourne. Chris said, "We would like to thank all the companies that donated and all the people that took part in buying raffle tickets, and all the staff at Jesters for making a good night of the fundraiser." Wealden District Council is the first local authority in East Sussex to be granted a bronze in the county council’s Wellbeing at Work Awards, for promoting wellbeing amongst staff. Schemes include Coffee Roulette - a virtual coffee meet randomly pairing two staff members - a cycle to work scheme, flexible working and the introduction of mental health first aiders.
