How you can take part in Worthing Seafront Planting Competition 2026

People have been invited to take part in Worthing’s annual Seafront Planting Competition, which returns on Saturday, May 16.

Organised by the Worthing Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), the popular event plays a key role in enhancing the Worthing seafront, bringing colour, creativity, and community spirit to one of the town’s most important public spaces.

Local residents, businesses and community groups have been encouraged to take part – with the BID saying volunteers would play a central role in transforming the area, from planting and arranging to designing unique displays.

The Seafront Planting Competition is one of several initiatives led by the BID to improve the look and feel of the town centre, support local pride, and encourage increased footfall and visitor engagement.

A spokesperson said: “As the organisation dedicated to supporting and enhancing Worthing town centre, we’re proud to deliver the Seafront Planting Competition each year. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to get involved in a BID-led initiative that makes a real, visible impact. We’re encouraging as many people as possible to join us and be part of it.”

The spokesperson added volunteers could take part individually or as part of a group, and no prior experience was needed. Anyone who would like to register interest or find out more should email [email protected]
