Plans to expand a HMO in Eastbourne approved

Eastbourne Borough Council has granted planning permission to expand a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

The proposal will see a change in use of an eight-person, eight-bedroom HMO in 213 Seaside to an 11-person HMO, while the number of bedrooms stays the same.

Councillors approved the plans subject to no more than 11 residents occupying the property at any one time.

Secure and covered cycle parking must also be provided within the site in accordance with the approved plans.

The management plan for the property outlined that quarterly inspections will be carried out and any issues will be addressed accordingly.

The plans received 10 objections, predominantly from local residents raising concerns over the number of HMO’s in the area.
