New Bexhill signs to make roads safer for horses and riders
New road signs have been installed in Bexhill as part of a campaign to make roads safer for horses and riders, a town councillor said.
Warning signs have been placed on Peartree Lane and St Mary’s Lane
The plan, by Cllr Connor Winter, aims to encourage motorists to take extra care when travelling along roads frequently used by horses and riders, he said.
He added that the signs serve as a reminder to motorists to reduce speed where appropriate, remain patient and give horses and riders sufficient space when passing.

Cllr Winter said: “I’m delighted that the first signs are now in place. Equestrian road safety is an important issue in our rural communities, and anything we can do to improve driver awareness and encourage considerate driving is a positive step.
“This was a commitment I made to residents during my election campaign, and I’m pleased to be delivering on it through continued work with the county and town councils.
“This is just the first phase, and I look forward to seeing further signs installed in the coming months. The ultimate aim is simple: to make our roads safer for horses, riders and all those who use them.”
