Billingshurst roadworks cause long queues and bus delays
Roadworks have been causing lengthy queues around Billingshurst, with bus passengers also warned to expect delays.
Compass Travel reported that temporary traffic lights were causing heavy traffic, on Tuesday morning (October 20).
The bus company’s social media post, at 9.30am, read: “Disruption: Three sets of traffic lights in Billingshurst High Street and Stane Street causing heavy traffic. Service 100 – we expect delays on this service.
"We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”

The High Street temporary lights appear to have since been removed. However, a separate roadworks listing for Stane Street remains marked as in progress, on Wednesday.
The listing covers Southern Water utility repair and maintenance works, with two-way traffic signals scheduled from October 19 until 11.59pm on Friday, October 23.
On Wednesday morning, northbound traffic on the A29 Stane Street was reported to be queueing for a mile. This was between the A272 Platts Roundabout and New Road. Congestion also affected surrounding approaches, with journey times exceeding 20 minutes.
On the A272 Newbridge Road, westbound queues approaching roadworks at Rowner Road stretched back to Lordings Road. Reported journey times were around 15 minutes, compared with five minutes in the opposite direction.
