Emergency repairs underway on busy Shoreham road; temporary traffic lights in place

Temporary traffic lights have been installed on a Shoreham road following a gas leak.

Gas distribution company SGN said it has carried out ‘emergency repairs’ to its network on the A283 Steyning Road.

The road is now being reinstated, and two-way traffic lights are in place.

An SGN spokesperson said: “Our engineers have worked as quickly and as safely as possible and have fixed the leak, making the area safe.

“We are now reinstating the road, and to do this safely, temporary traffic lights are in place along Steyning Road, between its junctions with Upper Shoreham Road and Steyning Road Roundabout.

“All being well, we expect to remove the lights by Friday (November 6).

"We’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work.”
