Grand Parade: Eastbourne seafront road reopens
Grand Parade has reopened following months of closure.
The seafront road was closed in February to facilitate for the pedestrianisation of Terminus Road.

New paving has been placed on the promenade and the road has now reopened to traffic, East Sussex Highways confirmed.
During the height of the roadworks, local traders raised concerns over the impact on footfall during the town’s summer season.
The Victoria Place Stakeholder Group – which includes Eastbourne MP Josh Babarinde, traders from Victoria Place, the leader of Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC), the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, and Your Eastbourne BID – wrote to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) to request a temporary pause to the works.
ESCC said it ‘appreciated the disruption the works were causing’ and agreed to reopen one lane of traffic in Grand Parade from April onwards.
The road was also fully reopened for key events, including Airbourne, Pride and Carnival
East Sussex Highways said further paving will take place outside Harry Ramsdens and finishes will be applied around lighting columns.
