Water leak repaired overnight as road repairs continue near Chichester
Portsmouth Water has repaired a leak on the B2201 Chichester Road near Donnington, but highways teams are still working on the road after two large potholes were discovered.
Repairs are continuing on a road near Chichester after a water leak discovered during pothole repairs was fixed overnight.
Portsmouth Water worked through the night to repair the leak on the B2201 Chichester Road near Donnington, according to the latest update from West Sussex Highways on Wednesday, October 28.
In an update issued at 10.40am, West Sussex Highways confirmed its highways team was on site to carry out the necessary road repairs.

The authority said: “Portsmouth Water worked overnight to repair the water leak. Our highways team is on site to make the necessary road repairs.
“We will update you as soon as we can.”
Highways teams had arrived on site to repair the road after two large potholes were discovered. Each pothole measured approximately 140mm deep, and the defects were considered too close together and too large to repair safely under temporary traffic signals.
A section of the B2201 was therefore closed to allow emergency repairs to be carried out.
The road closure has also disrupted bus services between Chichester and The Witterings, with Stagecoach introducing an emergency service after determining that alternative rural roads were unsuitable for its larger vehicles.
The closure comes amid existing disruption caused by gas main replacement works on Stockbridge Road in Chichester, which has already affected traffic routes in the area.
West Sussex Highways has not yet confirmed when the B2201 will reopen. Further updates are expected as work to repair the road progresses.
Motorists and bus passengers are advised to check for the latest travel information before setting out.
