'Let's compare' - Fabian Hurzeler gives sharp response to Danny Welbeck transfer question

All the latest team and transfer talk for Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler insists Brighton have replaced Danny Welbeck this transfer window.

Welbeck - who scored 13 Premier League goals for Albion last term - moved to Chelsea for around £7m in the summer window. The 35-year-old went to Stamford Bridge on a lucrative two year deal after six seasons at Brighton.

The Seagulls look a little light in the striking department as Stefanos Tzimas and Evan Ferguson remain injured.

Georginio - who mainly plays in the No 10 role - started the season as the main striker but suffered an injury which has seen Greek teenager Charalampos Kostoulas start against Chelsea and Leeds.

Kostoulas played well against Leeds but failed to get on the scoresheet.

Brighton also brought Canadian international Promise David last month after an impressive stint in Belgian with Union SG. The 6ft 5in striker joined on loan with an option to but at around £20mm.

Promise has so far had two cameos from the bench in the Premier League at Chelsea and Leeds and surprisingly has already received stick from some fans.

Eight Premier League goals

Despite Welbeck’s exit and the injuries, Brighton have scored eight in three Premier League matches and also fired four past Uefa Conference League play-off opponents Tromso.

"Yeah, I definitely feel that," snapped Hurzeler when asked after the Leeds match if Brighton have replaced Welbeck.

"Because our problem is not about goal scoring. I

think we scored eight goals in three matches, so let's compare it with other Premier League teams, how many teams scored eight goals in three matches.

"For us, it's more about how we get the understanding that we all have to defend, how we get the understanding that it's about keeping the clean sheet.

"I think that's the problem we have to solve, and we will find solutions for that."

Brighton hope to Georginio back in time to face newly-promoted Coventry at the Coventry Arena this Sunday.

Ferguson (ankle) and Tzimas (knee) remain sidelined.
