Lewis Dunk issues social media message to Brighton fans after Liverpool defeat
All the reaction from Brighton’s 2-0 Premier League loss to Liverpool at Anfield
Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk wants the fans to keep backing them throughout their hectic schedule.
The Seagulls - who are third in the Premier League - suffered a 2-0 loss at Liverpool yesterday, which came just days after their 0-0 Conference League draw in the Czech Republic against Jablonec.
This Wednesday Brighton are in action at Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at the Etihad Stadium.
They will then stay in Manchester and are swiftly back at the Eithad on Saturday for a Premier League clash against City. Next Thursday they are on their travels again as they jet to Madrid to face Getafe in the Uefa Conference League.
Brighton are finally back on home soil on Sunday November 8 as they welcome Brentford to the Amex Stadium.
Dunk’s loving fan support
It's a tough run of fixtures for all involved with the club and skipper Dunk is grateful for the brilliant backing from Brighton fans.
He posted; "Disappointing day but positives to take! Amazing support all week and another busy one coming up. Keep backing us!"
Liverpool took the lead at Anfield thanks to own goal from Pascal Gross and home striker Alexander Isak added a decisive second a few minutes later.
Brighton played pretty well throughout but failed to find a way to breakthrough a determined Liverpool team.
Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen added: “We know it's a tough place to go, it's a very good team, but we came here with the belief that we could win and unfortunately we didn't.
“The first 20, 30 minutes, we gave them too much, we made some mistakes, we gave them too many chances, obviously they scored twice, and then you know you're fighting an uphill battle.
Verbruggen: We stuck together
“But we stuck together and we started playing. We started taking more control of the game and I think the second half of the first half and the complete second half was better.
“We had more control, I think we were cleaner in the possession, we took it a little bit easier, more simple.
“And then we got in good positions but unfortunately today we couldn't finish. We've been very good in the final actions this season so far, but unfortunately today we couldn't do that.”
