£50m Ex-Brighton stars move on after brutal Sunderland and Chelsea exits
All the latest dealings for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League on transfer deadline day
Two former Brighton players are moving on transfer deadline day.
Simon Adingra, who left Brighton for Sunderland in 2025 for around £23m, is expected to complete a loan switch to Dutch giants Ajax.
While ex-Brighton keeper Rob Sanchez will leave Chelsea and join Serie A club Como on a season long loan.
The upfront loan fee for Sanchez has not been disclosed but it has been reported that it includes an option to buy.
Sanchez, 28, left Brighton in 2023 and moved to Stamford Bridge for around £27m.
Chelsea signed Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa for £7.5m and the Argentine made his debut for the Blues in last weekend's 4-3 win against Brighton.
It's a brutal exit for Sanchez who has long been criticised for some inconsistent displays since leaving Brighton.
Adingra struggles
Adingra also struggled since leaving the Amex Stadium. The Ivory Coast winger made just 15 appearances for the Black Cats and soon fell down the pecking order for Regis Le Bris’ team.
The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Monaco and now looks surplus to requirements for the Premier League team, who will also compete in the Europa League his term.
A move to Ajax could be a chance for Adingra to kick-start his career.
According to reports from Dutch media, Ajax will pay Sunderland a loan fee in the region of £3.3m and it includes an option-to-buy clause of around £13.7m.
Grealish to Everton
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is set to return to Everton on another season-long loan from Manchester City.
A deal has been agreed between the clubs for the 30-year-old to spend a second campaign with the Toffees, having seen last term’s loan curtailed by a stress fracture which ended his season in January.
Prior to that, Grealish had impressed for the Merseyside club, scoring two goals and adding six assists in 22 appearances.
Grealish remained with Everton during his rehabilitation over the second half of last season, but has appeared twice for City this term, coming off the bench in both the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and the 2-1 win over Bournemouth on the opening day of the Premier League season.
The deal for Grealish to return to Everton comes at the same time as City have agreed a fee worth up to £65million for Toffees winger Iliman Ndiaye.
