Hassocks stengthen promotion bid – Haywards Heath Town set for FA Vase trip
Hassocks have strengthened their SCFL Premier promotion bid with two wins in four days.
The six-point haul has moved James Westlake’s team third in the table – level on points with second-placed Eastbourne United, who have played a game more, and five points behind leaders Haywards Heath Town.
First Hassocks moved into fourth place in the table with a 3-0 win away to Forest Row on a very wet and windy Saturday. Lewis Croal, Lewis Finney and Darren Budd were the scorers.
On Tuesday night the Robins secured a dramatic 3-2 win at home to Wick – having been 2-0 down with 80 minutes gone. Lewis Finney and subs Liam Benson and Omar Abdsami were the late goal heroes at a buzzing Beacon.
This Saturday, Hassocks host Eastbourne United in the FA Vase.
Haywards Heath’s own promotion bid has been on hold. Their scheduled clash with Guernsey was called off at the weekend, the islanders unable to fly in the storms.
On Tuesday Heath won 4-1 at home to Hailsham in the RUR Cup – Ian Robinson, Jake Legrange, Charlie Towning and Sam Remfry on target.
It’s FA Vase action for Kev Green’s side on Saturday – they go to Rusthall.
