Popular long-standing Crawley Town goalkeeper joins League Two rivals on loan

This is Morris’ second spell with Gillingham. The 38-year-old spent two years at the Priestfield Stadium before he joined the Reds in 2016.

Crawley Town manager Kevin Betsy said: “Glenn has left us to go on loan, and we wish him all the best.

“We have a positive, open and honest relationship, and we initially wanted to add Glenn to the coaching staff as a player-coach as we lost our goalkeeping coach, but he wanted to continue playing for as long as he could, which we understood.

“He is a superb professional, and we will miss him being around.

“We had an approach from Gillingham that we had to consider to ensure Glenn would continue to play week in, week out.

“He lives close to Gillingham and is very close with [Gills] manager Neil Harris, so those added factors that pushed the move, as well as us not being able to guarantee him that he would play every game, so he will go and get games until January, and we will look at the situation again.

"He will no doubt do well, and he will always remain a Crawley legend for his service to the football club. Due to our relationship, it was a decision that we mutually came to, and we wish Glenn well."

Crawley Town have wished Morris well during his time with the Gills.

Morris is the third player to leave the Reds in as many days, after midfielders Sam Matthews and Jack Payne.
