9ft walking zombie let loose as West Sussex village embraces Hallowe'en with a fayre and trail
Flash mobs and a 9ft walking zombie will add to the fun as Lancing embraces Hallowe'en with a host of activities, a fayre and trail around the village.
Lancing Parish Council is hosting the Lancing Village Hallowe'en Fayre and Trail at Lancing Parish Hall on Saturday, October 31, from 10am to 1pm.
Children are encouraged to dress in their spookiest costumes for the Hallowe'en procession at 11am, and every child who takes part will receive a prize.
There will be face painting, balloon modelling, food vendors and a variety of local craft and charity stalls, with some stallholders offering their own activities, and Dance with Sarah has organised two flash mobs, at 12pm and 12.45pm.

DJ Fraser will spinning the decks, 'dropping monster mixes and ghoulish grooves that'll wake the dead’. The 14-year-old is raising money to support his Camps International expedition to Cambodia in July 2028, helping communities in need.
Families can also follow the village trail, with maps available at Lancing Parish Hall, Lance's Barbers in Crabtree Lane, and Robert Luff & Co in South Street, or on the council website.
Fran Corney, community, events and comms officer, said: “It’s a lovely opportunity to support local businesses and enjoy some Hallowe'en fun along the way. You might even be lucky enough to find some sweet treats in participating shops, kindly provided by the businesses themselves.”
Keep an eye out for Nightwalker Nick, a 9ft-tall stilt walking zombie making his way around the high street throughout the morning.

Fran said: “Last year’s event was the most popular yet, with surprise flash mobs and ghostbusters bringing lots of excitement to the village. We received lots of positive feedback.
“This year is shaping up to be another success and we’re looking forward to welcoming the community back with activities for families to enjoy and opportunities for the residents to come together.”
One highlight this year will be the free pumpkin decorating, with 250 pumpkins available for children to carve and take home.
