Horsham filmmaker launches immersive horror experience at village hall

A Horsham filmmaker is launching his own company, with a dark comedy horror experience, in West Sussex.

Davey Ezra, founder and creative director of Ezra Immersive, is bringing his first original production, RSVP, to Warnham Village Hall in October.

The 75-minute experience will see groups of 30 guests arrive at what appears to be a birthday party for Tommy Crimble.

They will meet the Crimble family and take part in their games and celebrations before the evening gradually turns into a survival horror experience.

Ezra Immersive is transforming Warnham Village Hall into the world of the Crimble family, with scenery, props and practical horror effects being built by hand.

Ezra said: "I’ve worked in immersive theatre and live entertainment for nearly 20 years, starting as an actor before going on to produce, direct and manage experiences including Shocktober Fest at Tulleys Farm, Hallowscream at York Maze, LaplandUK and Taste Film."

His short film TINSEL also won the Royal Television Society Award for Best Student Short Film.

After years of working on experiences for other companies, Ezra decided to establish his own independent business in Horsham and develop original productions.

He said: "After years of creating experiences for other companies, I decided to launch my own company here in Horsham and start creating original immersive experiences."

The production is being documented on TikTok, with Ezra sharing the process of developing the show, building props, casting, managing budgets and tracking ticket sales.

The company says more than 200 tickets had been sold before opening night, with two performances selling out six weeks ahead of the run.

Ezra said the response had ‘already exceeded my expectations’.

RSVP will take place at Warnham Village Hall on October 16, 17, 23, 30 and 31, with additional performances on November 6 and 7.

Tickets are £34.95 and the experience is for those aged 16 and over.
