Worthing Table Tennis Club hosted its annual Primary School Festival at Bohunt School on Wednesday 21 October, bringing together over 80 young people from eight local primary schools for an afternoon of table tennis, competition and fun.

The festival saw pupils take part in a circuit of table tennis stations, each designed to test a different skill required to become a successful table tennis player. From hand-eye coordination and ball control to movement, reaction speed and accuracy, the activities gave players the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities while enjoying a range of fun challenges.

The event also provided an opportunity for Worthing Table Tennis Club coaches to identify potential future talent and introduce young players to the sport in an exciting and engaging environment.

A particular highlight of the afternoon was a demonstration match featuring one of the club's top junior players, James Fryer, against club coach Jamie Black. The match gave the young participants a chance to see table tennis played at a high level and offered an insight into the skills, speed and tactics involved in competitive table tennis.

Following an afternoon of activities and competition, Goring CofE Primary School emerged as the overall winners, taking home the festival title.

The presentation was made by Bohunt Headteacher Ms Jones, recognising the achievements of the participating schools and celebrating the enthusiasm and effort shown by all the young players.

Worthing Table Tennis Club would like to extend a special thank you to Bohunt School for hosting the festival and, in particular, to the Bohunt School Young Leaders, Bupa volunteers and club volunteers who gave their time and energy to support the event. Their enthusiasm and hard work helped ensure the festival ran smoothly and created a fantastic experience for all the children involved.

The Primary School Festival forms part of the club's wider commitment to developing grassroots table tennis across the local community, providing opportunities for young people to discover the sport, develop new skills and potentially take their first steps towards competitive table tennis.
