Started by five friends meeting in their own homes in 1986 Sanditon Quilters are a thriving group of creative people.

Originally the founders were sewers and embroiderers, and had never tried patchwork and quilting but the focus changed over the years. One of the original five is still a member today.
Membership grew steadily notably after a 1988 Exhibition of work at the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. T
hey went on to meet at various venues around Bexhill, now meeting fortnightly at The Pelham Community Centre.
Members enjoy sewing together, chatting and sharing their love of this creative craft whilst working on their own projects, either hand or machine sewn patchwork and quilting.
To celebrate this 40year milestone, Sanditon Quilters are hosting a quilt show on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October 2026 at St Marks Church Hall, Little Common, where members work will be exhibited, along with some sales tables.
Visitors can vote for their favourite quilt.
The entry fee of £5 includes refreshments.
