The Royal British Legion’s Chichester poppy appeal officially launched
The Royal British Legion’s Chichester poppy appeal has been officially launched, with the Mayor receiving the first poppy and a stall set up in the City Council building.
The launch took place at the Council House, located on North Street, at 11am on Saturday (October 24). It involved the symbolic presentation of a poppy to the Mayor of Chichester, Cllr Sean McHale, by appeal organiser Paul Gaffney.
Veterans from Chichester’s branches of The Royal Sussex, The Queen’s and The PWRR’s Regimental Associations were also in attendance.
During remembrance season, culminating in Remembrance Sunday on November 8 and Armistice Day on November 11, the Royal British Legion has a donation stall set up outside the City Council Building.

Visitors can donate and pick up an enamel poppy pin, a red reflector, a wooden cross or a wrist band. The Royal British Legion says volunteers to assist the street stall are welcome, alongside veterans from the Armed Forces for a chat.
