Arlington Stadium promoters ask for help getting venue ‘back to looking its best’

The promoters who secured a deal to bring back racing at Arlington Stadium have asked for help getting the Hailsham venue ‘back to looking its best’.

On Wednesday, September 9, Spedeworth Motorsports will spend the day painting, jet washing and grass cutting at the stadium until 8pm.

The promoters posted on their Facebook account to encourage anyone with relevant equipment to join them, adding that they will provide painting supplies.

It comes after Spedeworth Motorsports reached an agreement with the Dugard family, who own Arlington Stadium, for a lease to allow oval racing to continue at the track, despite being informed at the beginning of August that the owners no longer wished to host racing after 60 years.

Despite Spedeworth manager Gavin Botfield telling The Argus racing is expected to resume by the end of October, the promoters have previously said it can only return once all remedial works are completed.

A fundraiser was set up in August to support the cost of repairs at the stadium and has raised more than £9,000 so far. If you wish to donate, you can do so at https://gofund.me/573bb715d.
