A Crawley couple have been left with mould due to a collapsed ceiling in their bathroom.

Edyta and Adam Wawruszak’s rented property in Pembroke Park, Three Bridges, suffered a leak from an upstairs neighbour which resulted in the ceiling collapsing.

The leak occurred on December 1 and The Hyde Group, the company managing the property, is yet to repair the damage.

Mrs Wawruszak said: “On December 1 just after midnight our ceiling in the bathroom collapsed on my husband's head because no one came to repair it on time when we had a leak from the flat upstairs.

“It's been reported almost every day for over two weeks but they have not sent anyone. The ceiling is still not fixed and we have had a lot of mould develop in our bathroom which they don't care about.

“We requested for someone to come and check the mould but they said that there was no mould. An engineer from The Hyde Group is planning to fix the ceiling on January 16 we have been told.”

A spokesperson for The Hyde Group said: “I’d like to apologise to our customers at Pembroke Park, I know how distressing it is when a ceiling collapses. This is a roofing issue, which we are aware of and have been working with our customers so that we can rectify the problem.

“A cherry picker will attend Pembroke Park either Wednesday or Thursday so that we can carry out a full inspection. We will also carry out a temporary fix, until we can fix the roof permanently.”
