Dog Friendly Eastbourne guide launches for 2026
This year’s guide to the most dog-friendly spots in Eastbourne has been launched.
The free pocket guide is an encyclopedia of everything dog-friendly in Eastbourne.
It lists hundreds of shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and hotels, plus walking spots, activities and events that all welcome four-legged friends.
Tailored towards both tourists and residents, the guide also features local dog trainers, behaviourists, vets, pet sitters, and agility classes.

The guide is written by Karey Whitmore from the perspective of her ‘prima donna’ rescue dog, Scamp, who has become something of a local celebrity. (Businesses now give Scamp extra sausages and she has been recognised as ‘the dog in the book’ on several occasions.)
Karey and Scamp have explored every corner of Eastbourne to remove the guesswork from day trips with your dog.
In Scamp’s words, she has ‘become the town’s official canine explorer’.
Karey said: “There are so many dog-friendly places and people aren't aware.
"We used to see people hovering outside, wondering if dogs were allowed in."
The guide was originally published in 2023 after receiving funding from the VisitEastbourne Tourism Development Fund.
Subsequent editions have been funded with proceeds made from local events, such as the Meads Makers Market and dog-friendly cinema Meads Mutts Matinee.
These events also donate a portion of the funds to charity Give a Dog a Home, which rescued Scamp as a puppy.
Karey said: “The first edition was just so well received that I thought it was something worth repeating.
“People really seem to value it.
“The businesses really like it. We've had a fabulous reception, it's been flying off the shelves."
