Have your say on plans to gate public rights of way in Hastings and St Leonards
Hastings Borough Council is asking for views on plans to renew gating orders for five public rights of way in Hastings and St Leonards.
The gates were introduced in March 2024 to help reduce antisocial behaviour and improve safety in these areas. Government guidance requires gating orders to be reviewed every three years to ensure they continue to deter the antisocial behaviour. The locations are: • Valentine’s Passage - linking Shepherd Street with North Street in St Leonards • Laser Lane - linking Kings Road to Cross Street in St Leonards • Prospect Passage (Havelock Road to Priory Square), Hastings • Trinity Passage - Linking Robertson Street with Claremont in Hastings • Hoads Wood Road to Pilot Road, Hastings. A Hastings Council spokesperson said: “The proposed renewal of the gating orders for these locations is based on considerable evidence.
