Honouring Louis: Harry takes on daily 5K challenge to fundraise in his memory

Following the recent loss of a close friend, a young man from Hassocks is pursuing his late friend’s hobby in his memory.

Louis Stevens tragically passed away in September.

The 22-year-old from Hassocks was someone full of life who enjoyed running, travelling, and spending time with friends.

Those who knew him describe him as a selfless, lovely person, who was always there for people and always tried to make light of situations.

Harry Campbell, a long time companion of Louis, is honouring his friend’s life by pursuing something that his friend loved whilst raising money for a good cause.

The pair first met in infant school and later attended Downlands community school together, remaining close pals throughout the 18 years.

In memory of Louis, Harry is running five kilometers every day in November for Cruse Bereavement Support, a charity chosen by Louis’ parents for funeral donations instead of flowers and gifts.

November was chosen due to charity connotations specifically surrounding Movember, raising awareness for men’s mental health.

“He was just he's a really lovely person, he always had something to say and was always trying to make other people laugh”, said Harry about Louis. “He was like that even if he was going through stuff himself.

"He'd always listen to what was up with you and try and like take that off your mind and like take the weight off your shoulders even if he doesn't feel like doing that himself.

"Like he was quite selfless and just a lovely guy.”

Harry, who is completing his runs around Oxford whilst at university will continue the challenge throughout November in his bestfriend’s memory.
