Morgan wants his Crawley Town goals to start earning victories
Dylan Morgan declared himself delighted at his Crawley Town goalscoring form – but frustrated his goals haven’t counted for more in terms of points.
Morgan produced another fine finish against Tranmere on Saturday to score his fifth goal of the season and the in-form attacker said it was nice to celebrate another goal.

The half-volleyed finish extended his goalscoring run to four games but his goals in each of the past four games have come when Crawley have been chasing the game – so the 24-year-old hasn’t had time to really enjoy the goals he’s scored.
Since joining from National League South side Torquay United in the summer Morgan has played in a variety of different positions across the frontline – playing out wide, in the 10 and as a lone striker.
But he said: “Wherever I play, whatever position it is, I’ll always give my best. I’m more interested in winning, it’s nice that I’m having a little run of goals and long may that continue, but as long as those goals start turning into wins, then I’ll be more happy.
Colin Kazim-Richards was dismissed from his role as head coach last week and Morgan paid a tribute to himr.
“Colin brought me to the club so I have the utmost respect for him,” Morgan said. “He gave me the opportunity to come here and I didn’t know if I was going to play straight away, he had full belief in me and he’s given me the licence to go and play so for the sake of him I’m going to carry that on.”
On the new interim boss Kevin Blackwell, Morgan said: “Kevin has come in and he was close with Neil Warnock so I had a little phone call with Warnock and he was telling me about Kev. He’s a top guy and I just hope as a team we can pull through and start winning games for the club and for ourselves - I hate losing.”
Morgan was asked about how the players try to keep morale up during this difficult period Crawley find themselves in.
“I think in football there is always another game, so you can’t dwell,” he replied. “Whether you are winning or losing I think you have to stay the same because football changes so quick. I think it’s important whether you’re on a losing run or a winning run just to stay the same because it’s going to change.”
Morgan said there was only so much a manager could do, so individual players and their preparation was important.
“Managers pick teams, they pick formations. I think as a player, they can’t play for you, so I prepare the same whether it was any manager in the world,” he said.
"I think especially when you’re in situations like this, you have to be honest and you have to look at yourself before anyone because a manager can’t just come in and save players if you're not doing your jobs right. As long as everyone’s doing their jobs right then a manager can help a little bit.”
"We definitely had enough chances to win the game" - Crawley attacker disappointed not claim first home win of the season
Morgan was disappointed Saturday’s clash ended 1-1, saying: “We’re a bit gutted because we felt like we had done enough to win the game. We are having one of those periods where it's like everything is going wrong."
The Reds’ defensive shape looked a lot more structured and resolute but Morgan said: “Maybe we could have dealt with the crosses a little better during that five-minute spell, but the lad’s shot has hit Priestley’s knee and gone in.
"It was an improvement as a team, we held in there and didn’t lose the game.
“I think their goalie had an absolute worldly of a day. I think they were dangerous from corners but apart from that I don’t think they caused us many problems, and didn’t have many clearcut chances.
"Vito [Mannone] made one worldly save at the end, which is credit to him.
“The gaffer’s come in and has wanted to tighten us up a little bit because of the situation we’re in, which is fair enough. We were trying to implement some of the things he’s brought in, being a little bit lower risk and tightening up.
"He has full faith in us, we have full faith in the team and I think if our output is like that every week, I’m sure that a little bit of luck will change and we’ll start getting some wins on the board.”
