Ariel Drama Academy moves to new home
Trinity Methodist Church
Ariel Drama Academy is marking 20 years of nurturing young talent, building confidence and creating opportunities with a move to Trinity Methodist Church, East Grinstead, from November 7.
The old home was at Sackville School in East Grinstead.
Since opening its doors, principal Karen Brown has helped generations of young people learn, perform, make friends and develop skills for life. As the academy continues to grow, its new home will provide more space and strengthen its links with the local community.
Karen said: “I honestly feel I have one of the best jobs in the world. For 20 years, I have had the privilege of watching young people grow, develop and discover what they are capable of. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student who may have arrived feeling shy or unsure gradually find their confidence and their voice.”
Karen is especially proud of Ariel Othellos, the academy’s SEND group: “It is incredibly special to see the young people in Othellos flourish, express themselves, build confidence and have a place where they feel completely accepted and valued.”
Ariel’s former students have gone on to achieve success in performing arts and beyond. They include Sophia Ally, who appeared in The Hunger Games; her sister Alicia, who has performed on the West End stage; and Alex Watts, who appeared in Pretty Woman. Tim Inns is receiving recognition for his work in The Last Kingdom and will soon appear in Finding Emily while Harry Peplar is currently touring in Japan.
“These professional achievements are a source of pride, but Ariel sees success in many forms. Whether students pursue a career in performance or gain confidence, friendships and communication skills, the academy aims to give each young person a supportive place to grow. Othellos reflects this inclusive approach, helping young people express themselves, build friendships and celebrate their individuality.
“After 20 years, I still feel incredibly lucky to be doing what I love, and I am so excited to see what the next 20 years will bring for Ariel,” said Karen.
Ariel Drama Academy is offering a free trial at its new East Grinstead home on November 7.
