There have been lots of small but important fixes announced in the past week, including tackling unfair parking charges, introducing fines and removing persistent headphone dodgers playing music and videos out loud on public transport, and plans to cut £800 million of red tape for businesses.

Bigger issues are on the agenda too. It's a national priority to halve violence against women and girls within a decade, and we must do everything we can to support victims and survivors. That's why I'm pleased that our local NHS is receiving £4 million for a new service called Steps to Safety, which will train GP practice staff to spot the signs of domestic abuse. If you need support, call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline free, 24/7, on 0808 2000 247.

Back in the constituency, I spoke at the Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce business breakfast. It was great to answer questions and hear views on local transport and Worthing Council's Pride in Worthing initiative, which is cleaning up the town centre and helping local businesses bid for council contracts. As ever, I was blown away by the range of innovative, brilliant businesses growing our local economy and employing local people.

I also had a fantastic time at the Worthing Beer Festival, organised by volunteers from the Arun and Adur branch of CAMRA, with local brews on offer including Hand Brew Co's bitter brewed right here in Broadwater!

It was good to also join the Southwick Royal British Legion for this year’s Poppy Appeal launch, featuring the brilliant Lancing Brass Band, before popping into the new Paper Raven card shop in Shoreham – run by Shoreham’s own Lydia Mae who designs all of the beautiful cards herself!
