Every year Eastbourne choir Concentus chooses a charity for whom they raise funds at their summer and Christmas performances.

Last year the choir's chosen beneficiary was Epilepsy Sussex, a small local charity that is run by volunteers and wholly funded by donations. The choice was very popular with the choir since one of it's members, Su Knight (pictured right) sadly lost her daughter Alexandra to the condition in 2024. The effect of epilepsy on both people living with it, and those who support them, really was brought home to the choir by this and made it apparent, with the absolute determination of Su and her fellow singers, that Epilepsy Sussex would receive the majority of the choir's nominations for 2025.

Retiring collections were held at all four of the choir's principle performances in both Seaford and Eastbourne, with choir members also holding cake and book sales to add to the funds. A total of of £2815.70 was raised, with the cheque being presented at a recent choir rehearsal by Adrian White (Musical Director) to founders Michelle and Darren Shrieves. Further information and help regarding epilepsy and its effects can be found on the charity's website www.epilepsysussex.com.
