Police in Eastbourne warn commuters to 'take extra care' due to weather conditions
Eastbourne Police have warned that due to a a rainy morning drivers should be careful on the roads.
A police spokesperson said: “A bit of a wet start across the district this morning.

“Please take extra care on your commute, wet roads can significantly increase stopping distances and reduce tyre grip, making it harder to react to hazards.
Police recommend for those driving in the rain to slow down and drive to the conditions, to leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front, brake smoothly and in good time, avoid sudden braking or sharp steering, watch out for standing water, especially on bends and in dips in the road.
Also to use headlights if visibility is reduced, make sure your tyres, lights and windscreen wipers are in good condition.
They added to “Allow yourself a little more time for your journey and stay safe on the roads today.
“If you come across flooding on the highway, report it to your local highways authority. If you're involved in or witness a road traffic collision contact police.”
